Program Details
Program Hours: 140 hours
Length: 6 weeks
Schedule: Monday – Thursday (9:00am – 2:40pm)
The nurse aide program prepares students with the knowledge needed to work in any facility of employment such as hospitals, home healthcare or private duty, assisted living facilities and nursing homes,
Upon completion, students will be able to
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of the nurse aide.
- To apply the knowledge acquired to safely care for clients.
- Apply knowledge of infection control measures in the work environment.
- Student will be able to demonstrate an understanding of client’s rights, privacy, and confidentiality in their workplace.
- Recognize changes in clients condition and intervene or immediately report changes to the nurse supervisor
- To demonstrate basic therapeutic communication skills focusing on the client’s needs and interpersonal relationships.
Upon successful completion of the program students will receive a certificate of completion from the school and will be eligible to take the certified nurse aide exam for the Virginia state board of nursing.
Basic Admission Requirements
- Student must be at least 18 years of age
- High School Diploma/GED
- Must be able to read, write and understand English.
- Valid Identification card (driver’s license, state ID, Passport, work authorization)
- Criminal background check
- TB Test (PPD test/Quantiferon gold test/chest X-ray)
- Hepatitis B
- Flu shot
- COVID-19 vaccine
